80-year-old Egyptian Sayyed al-Dawwy is the last living interpreter of the Sira el-Hilaliyya, the most significant orally transmitted Arabian epic. He knows its 5 million verses by heart and keeps its stories alive. In the run-up to the premiere of the documentary film on this extraordinary artist, Sayyed al-Dawwy makes an exclusive appearance on the lakeside stage. Supported by his grandson Ramadan and accompanying musicians, he recites and sings stories from this ancient epic poem. A truly unique event. (ron/esc)
