Myths, fairytales and stories are not confined by political borders. For ages they have spread with the migratory movements of people across the globe. The acclaimed Israeli director Ofira Henig – last featured at the 2008 festival with her one-man-show «In Spitting Distance» ‒ has, for her latest work, tapped into the rich tradition of stories from the Middle East and Arab countries, such as Morocco and Yemen, with a special interest in those told about the opposite sex. Together with three authors, one of them the playwright Taher Najib, she has adapted the folklore material for the stage. «Both Upon a Time» tells, in Hebrew and Arabic and with joy and sadness, of possible and impossible relationships – not only between women and men.
