Groovy brass sections and driving drums, mixed with Ethiopian magic – Swiss thoroughbred jazz musicians interpret the hits of Ethiopian pop music and are successful all the way to Addis Ababa. Their gig this year is crowned with the appearance of Hamelmal Abate, who sings a mix of traditional East African music and modern funk and is one of Ethiopia’s most popular musicians. They are appearing together for the first time in Switzerland: the queen from Addis Ababa and the tigers from Geneva – a hot combination. (ron)
